The short film 'Black Høle' reflects the oppressive atmosphere under the Asian education system. Day after day, the school is like a prison, confining the free thinking of children. If their grades are not satisfactory, various forms of punishment follow. The intense learning does not stop with the ringing of the dismissal bell. After school lets out at 5 pm, students face another suffocating space - cram school, which often runs until 10 pm, marking the end of an Asian student's daily routine. Behind this marathon schedule lies the distorted perception among many Asian parents that "only academic excellence matters." They crave for their children to enter top universities with outstanding grades, hoping to elevate their social status and benefit the family. Students are not allowed to defy authority figures like parents and teachers; excessive studying and exams take a toll on their physical and mental well-being. These factors congregate, gradually forming a massive black hole, which casts a shadow over the entire society.
We employed cutting-edge generative AI technology for 'Black Hole,' combining hand-drawn storyboards with Midjourney AI for finalized visuals and Runway ML for animations. The result is a childlike, doodle-esque acrylic painting style carrying potent emotions in response to our school lives, and it echoes recent news of a Taiwanese cram school showing off elementary students' packed schedules, shocking the entire society.

It explores the tension between humans and technology, particularly the emergence of artificial intelligence and robots in our daily lives. The work highlights the opportunities that this technology can bring, as well as the threats it can represent for our future. It suggests that humans are constantly seeking progress, whether for their own benefit or for the danger of humanity. The work can be seen as a metaphor for the frenzied race of man forward.
This was made with an AxiDraw plotter by batch of 4x2 grid of 10 A3 plots, then cut into 80 postcards. It is initially entirely made with code and then took about 30 working hours to plot this (on just the plotting phase). The physical postcards are already distributed IRL but this NFT immortalise them digitally back into this video loop.

Using AI generation, Kusano crafts portraits of individuals who, though they don't exist in fact, resonate profoundly in our memories and senses, employing the pixelated effect as a symbolic presence.Pixels signify the fragmented pieces of our identity and understanding in this digital era. This work's aesthetic, reminiscent of video games, questions the overly pop-consumed roles of men and women, suggesting that these roles are, after all, fictional constructs.This glitch prompts us to reflect on the interplay between reality and the virtual, encouraging a reevaluation of our perspectives and the freedom to envision differently.

All mirrors have turned towards me, echoing a voice within,
My body lies beneath the pure sun's rays,
A lifetime passes amid the heated plates,
My heart is the hero of the task, the square of the laborer…”
In the video, cyborg and robot-like characters exist within an imaginary world with a chaotic, ever-shifting metallic terrain. They constantly see themselves in a mirror rotating around them. This highly colorful and challenging environment is created to reflect a distorted version of today's world. The artwork aims to contemplate the positioning of the "artist figure" within such a world. It questions the concept of being an artist-worker in the ever-expanding data cloud created by social media and the internet, forming a new workforce.
